I would never ask a friend to babysit for free for me unless it was an absolute emergency. If I had a date night and couldn't find anyone else besides a friend, I would still pay them. I admit that many of my friends likely wouldn't accept money from me, but I would at least pay for their dinner or something. This is incredibly entitled behavior from this “friend.”

It sounds like our protagonist does clean up after the baby, though. It just so happens that mom got home early and walked in before the place was tidy.

Ungrateful mom criticises friend for leaving toys out after babysitting for free on date night: "She should be nothing but thankful"
It should come as no surprise that when you ask someone to do you a favor for free, that you would not receive the same level of quality as a professional who is getting paid. I once had an old, high school friend ask me to make a logo for his company. To be clear, I have a Fine Arts degree, a vague understanding of Adobe Illustrator, and a decent eye when it comes to aesthetics; however, I have no experience in digital design whatsoever. I'm quite proud of the result, and I did put some effort into it despite the fact that I did it for free. Still, I guess my design was lackluster because he ended up using some pretty generic clip art instead.
In our story today, a woman lucky enough to have a friend willing to babysit for free on her every whim has the gall to criticise her for not picking up all the toys when she gets home. Our protagonist, the babysitter in question, was so taken about by the ingratitude that she hopped on the internet to try to understand what she did so wrong.
